What the Research Says About Acupuncture and Fertility
Acupuncture is studied as a complement to fertility care, not a replacement for it, and the research is worth reading honestly. Findings are mixed across the literature, but several recent reviews point in a favorable direction, particularly for patients going through IVF.
A 2024 systematic review and meta-analysis in Archives of Gynecology and Obstetrics pooled 25 randomized controlled trials covering 4,757 participants. Across those trials, the clinical pregnancy rate in the acupuncture groups was 43.6% compared with 33.2% in the control groups, and across the 11 trials that tracked live births, the live birth rate was 38.0% compared with 28.7%.
A 2025 network meta-analysis in Frontiers in Endocrinology looked specifically at how treatment schedules affect results. It found that longer courses of treatment, three months or more, and higher session counts were associated with better outcomes than shorter ones. That finding lines up with how we build treatment plans here, and it is the reason we suggest starting well before you plan to conceive rather than only around a transfer date.
On the male side, a 2023 network meta-analysis comparing non-pharmaceutical interventions for sperm quality found acupuncture to have a significant advantage over placebo for total sperm motility, along with measurable improvement in sperm concentration.
It is also fair to say that not every study agrees. Some reviews have found no significant effect on live birth rates, and results vary depending on how and when treatment is delivered. What we can tell you is what the better evidence supports, what we see clinically, and where the research is still unsettled. We would rather have that conversation with you directly than overstate what acupuncture can do.

From there your practitioner performs a Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnosis, including pulse and tongue evaluation, administers your first acupuncture treatment, and builds a personalized plan that may include herbs, nutrition guidance, and lifestyle adjustments matched to what is actually going on in your body.
Ongoing Fertility Support Between Cycles
Fertility is not a one-visit fix. It is a process of bringing your body into balance over time. Follow-up visits focus on regulating your cycle and hormones, improving reproductive function, and supporting you emotionally through what can be an exhausting stretch of life. What a Fertility Treatment Plan Might Include

The first session will consist of an in-depth discussion of your primary health concerns and full health history, along with a deep examination of the function of each of your body’s systems to properly diagnose any impairments or deficiencies.
Your practitioner will administer acupuncture, as well discuss an individualized treatment plan to address your specific condition and personal goals- which may include herbal medicine, dietary changes and lifestyle modification.

Follow-up Visit – $115 ~ 60 min
Your follow-up sessions will focus on treatment of your main complaint, as well as resolving any relevant underlying causes and secondary concerns.

Herbal Treatment
Initial Visit – $135 ~ 45-60 min
The first session will consist of an in-depth discussion of your primary health concerns and full health history, along with a deep examination of the function of each of your body’s systems to properly diagnose any impairments or deficiencies.
Your practitioner will prescribe appropriate herbal formulas and discuss an individualized treatment plan to address your specific condition and personal goals- which may include dietary changes and lifestyle modification.

Follow-up Visit – $85 ~ 30 min
During your follow-up sessions your practitioner will ask a series of questions, and perform diagnostic tests to assess how your body is responding to the herbal medicine and to see if any adjustments are necessary.
Cupping
Initial Visit – $75 ~ 30 min
Cupping is often used as a quick and effective way to release musculoskeletal pain and tension, especially neck pain and back pain- though it is used for many other disorders in Chinese medicine.
